Kathmandu Lhasa Tour

A sightseeing program that includes the major historic, cultural and religious sights of the three Newari cities of the Kathmandu Valley – Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur as well as a glimpse of Newari village life.
Each of the three cites (Kathmandu, Patan & Bhaktapur) is centered around its Durbar Square where museums, temples, courtyards and squares reveal the best of traditional art, crafts and architecture.
Patan’s museum is particularly impressive whilst in Bhaktapur the essence of the medieval town can still be felt as the city preserves its own unique idenity.
The ancient and enigmatic Swayambhunath Stupa is the most sacred of the Valley’s Buddhist shrines whilst Pashupatinath is the largest temple complex in Nepal and one of the most sacred places dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva in the whole subcontinent.
The stupa of Boudhanath attracts pilgrims, particularly Tibetans, from throughout the Buddhist Himalaya.
In Lhasa visit the famous Potala and Norbulinkha palaces, the great Drepung Monastery and walk through the bustling Barkor Bazaar before flying back to Kathmandu . An unforgettable encounter with forbidden Tibet.


Day to Day Itinerary :

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu and meet our representative and transfer to Hotel.

Day 02 : Sightseeing at Kathmandu Durbar square and Living Goddess Kumari's house. Up to the last of 17th century Nepal was divided into more than50 separate petty Kingdoms. Within Kathmandu valley here is also 4 separate kingdom kathnandu, Bhaktpur, Patan and Kirtipur. That time King live in Royal Palace and Now a days we call that old royal palace is locally called Dubar square.
Kumari is a vergin goddess worshipped by local people. This religious practice started from last of 17th century by King Jaya Pratap Malla. Kumari goddess is also regarded as living virgin God. She is the incarnation of Goddess Talaju.

On a wooded hill to the west stands the incredible golden-topped stupa of Swayambhunath, dating back at least as far as the 5th century. It is the most sacred of Buddhist sites in Kathmandu and Newari Buddhists are the most fervent devotees.
Tibetan Buddhists are mostly found around the great stupa of Boudhanath – making a holy circumambulation or within the maze of temples and stalls surrounding it.
The Valley’s holiest Hindu temple is equally alive with atmosphere and devotees - Pashupatinath is one of the most sacred shrines to Shiva on the entire subcontinent. It is situated on the banks of the Bagmati River, whose waters offer the same guarantee of release from rebirth as the Ganges. The same premise applies to the dead and this is also Nepal’s most important Hindu cremation site.Overnight in Hotel.

Day 03 : Patan, once an independent Kingdom, lies only a few kilometers south of Kathmandu, but is quite different in atmosphere. Patan’s Durbar Square contains some of the finest Newari urban architecture in all of Nepal as well as Hindu and Buddhist monuments.
Bhaktapur, founded in 889, was once capital of the whole Valley as well as an impressive Durbar Square and numerous temples, Bhaktapur is famous for its pottery – whole streets are filled with pieces of all shapes and sizes set in the sun to dry.Drive back to Kathmandu and Overnight in Hotel.

Day 04: Depart from Kathmandu by air to Lhasa. Arrival at Gonggar Airport. Transfer to a hotel in Lhasa (2hrs). Time at leisure. Overnight in Lhasa.
  
Day 05: A full day sightseeing. Visit the Potala Palace; The residence of Dalai Lama; the Jokhang Lhakhang and stroll around the market area. Overnight in Lhasa.  

Day 06: Visit the Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery in Tibet. This 14th. Century monastery once housed more than 10,000 monks. Later on visit the Norbulingpa Park, the summer Palace of the Dalai Lama.  Overnight in Lhasa.  

Day 07: Drive to the Sera Monastery, the second largest in Tibet. This yellow sect monastery was very important, politically, during the days of Dalai Lama. And afternoon visit to Buddhist Nunnery.  Overnight in Lhasa. 
 
Day 08: Early morning drive to the Gonggar Airport for departure to Katmandu by flight. And Arrival in Kathmandu and meet our representative and transfer to Hotel. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 09 : Transfer to Airport for onwards journey.
